India has taken a significant step towards expanding its processed poultry products in international markets with the export of its first consignment of dried whole egg powder from Odisha to Austria.
The consignment, weighing 22 metric tonnes, was exported by APEDA-registered OVO Farm Private Limited. The development is being seen as an important milestone for India’s egg-processing industry and is expected to open new opportunities for Indian poultry products in global markets.
Modern Egg Processing Facility Established in Balangir
OVO Farm Private Limited established a modern egg processing facility in Balangir, Odisha, in 2025. The facility produces processed egg products in accordance with international food-safety and quality standards.
The plant follows stringent hygiene and food-safety protocols and has also obtained Halal and Kosher certifications, helping the company meet the requirements of international markets.
What is Dried Whole Egg Powder?
Dried whole egg powder is produced by processing liquid whole eggs using modern drying technology. The process helps preserve the nutritional properties of eggs while significantly extending their shelf life.
One of the major advantages of egg powder is its long shelf life and ease of transportation. It can be used in food-processing industries, bakery products, confectionery, and certain pharmaceutical applications.

Officials from Odisha’s Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, the Balangir district administration, representatives of the exporting company, APEDA officials and other stakeholders participated in the programme.

The export is expected to provide a major boost to Odisha’s poultry and egg-processing sector. APEDA has been working to promote exports of Indian agricultural and processed food products by supporting exporters, strengthening processing infrastructure and promoting international food-safety and quality standards.
